Goofy in a busy World

I had intended to be more diligent in writing a post once or twice a week, but things are more busy than I thought they would be. At work, mostly, because deadlines have been extended, and then when I get home I just want to rest. But here is something I want to share:

For a few months now there has been a flock of turkeys wandering the area around my work. So I’m leaving one day earlier this week, and there are two males meandering about… gobbling like they do. A few years ago, my aunt had taught me how to mimic one. So feeling silly, I make the sound…. and they actually gobbled back! Excited, I did it a couple more times, and each time they responded immediately. Definitely a good moment I needed this week 🙂

I still try to be goofy when I can, especially with those I am comfortable with. When I was younger, and on occasion still, I can quote and imitate movie/TV show characters. My favorite is probably Smeagol from Lord of the Rings… and that might be because it surprises whoever I do it in front of.

Well, I’m going to go now. Have a great weekend, everyone

Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Light and Dark

This week has gone by so quick, but at the same time it went by so slowly too… what is with that? Anyway, so this Sunday at church, it came up about light being associated with safety. And how kids are afraid of the dark, and want some light to help them be comforted. I found it interesting, because I’ve been thinking about the whole matter a lot lately. Remembering myself as a little girl, afraid to go to bed because my imagination was creating a monster in my closet. And with just the door open a crack to let in the light from the hallway, I could feel safe enough to fall asleep. Now I’m able to fall asleep in the dark no problem, and sometimes even a reverse situation presents itself. Where a slightly moderate amount of light could wake me up, or prevent me from going to sleep.

But the topic also brings up one of my favorite songs: Light Shine Bright by Tobymac, featuring Hollyn. Here’s some of the lyrics: 🙂

“I wanna magnify your light
I wanna reflect the sun
Cut like precious diamonds
With the colors by the millions
This is the only world we know
And for now this rental’s our home
If we gonna be a reflection
Gotta make this third rock glow
(Just so you know)

Lights shine bright everywhere we go
Music for the people to illuminate the soul
Lights shine bright everywhere we go
Music for the people, making music for the people”

Psalms 119:105 – “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light for my path.”
